2021 Kia Soul vs. 2021 Hyundai Kona

2021 Kia Soul vs. Hyundai Kona

Overview

Do you want a vehicle that’s easy to handle and comes with advanced features? The 2021 Kia Soul and 2021 Hyundai Kona may be small, but they're packed with features to enhance your comfort and performance on the road. Here's a look at how both vehicles match up and why the Kia Soul may be what you want to look into as your next vehicle.

Design and Exterior

The 2021 Kia Soul is a small SUV that comes in the LX, X-Line, GT-Line, S, EX and Turbo trims. It features a boxy build with a stunning black radiator grille and up to six exciting exterior color options, including Inferno Red and Mars Orange. The privacy glass and solar glass work to shield you from the heat of the sun's rays. Other exterior features include heated rear glass, LED headlights, and 16-inch to 18-inch wheels, depending on your trim of choice.

The 2021 Kona comes in the SE, SEL, SEL Plus, Night, Limited and Ultimate trims. The base trim is a bit lacking in features, but from the SEL, you can get heated mirrors and roof rails. Higher trims feature a sun roof, LED headlights, and a chrome exterior trim.

Performance and Engines

Most trims of the 2021 Soul are powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. On the base LX, it's mated to a six-speed manual transmission, or an optional continuously variable transmission. The Turbo comes with a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine that puts out 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. This engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and can accelerate to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds.

The engine setup for the 2021 Kona is similar to the Soul's; however, in the Kona, the bigger engine only makes 175 horsepower. This engine can accelerate to 60 mph in 6.6 seconds.

Interior

The 2021 Kia Soul and Hyundai Kona can seat five adults comfortably. The Soul has up to 102.2 cubic feet of passenger volume. You can customize the seats from the gray or two-tone color options. Upholstery options include cloth, premium tricot cloth, and synthetic leather. The Soul is equipped with Kia's UVO interface with either a 7-inch or 10.3-inch touch screen display.

Like the Soul, the Kona is also equipped with a touch screen infotainment system, along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, traffic monitoring, and navigation.

Safety Technology

Are you looking for a vehicle with forward-thinking safety technology? The Hyundai Kona does come with commendable safety features. You will also see the Kia Soul equipped with sought-after technologies, and there are many advanced safety features available that include a blind-spot monitor, a drowsy driver monitor, and forward-collision mitigation.
