When you need a family-sized SUV, but are also firmly committed to purchasing an all-electric vehicle, the 2024 Kia EV9 is a popular option. With three rows and an excellent driving range, the EV9 is a great pick when you’re looking for an SUV for large families.
Design
The 2024 EV9 and the lowest trim level has the kind of comfort and convenience features you’d expect on top level trims, with 7-passenger seating and advanced technology. Not only are both front seats heated and ventilated, but they’re also 8-way power adjustable with 2-way power lumbar adjustment. A tri-zone climate control system includes automatic de-fogging and rear AC vents with rear passenger controls. You also get rain-sensing wipers and power-folding, heated side mirrors with turn signals.
A Quiet Mode directs the audio system’s sound to just the front row to avoid disturbing anyone sleeping or using their own devices in the back rows. The Passenger Talk function lets front-seat passengers use the cabin microphone or speakers to talk to back-row occupants without having to shout or turn around.
Performance
Of the 2024 EV9 five trim levels, the two lowest have rear-wheel drive and single rear-mounted electric motors. The highest three trims have dual motors and all-wheel drive. However, even the base model provides 215 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. There are four drive modes from which to choose: Sport, Eco, Normal, and My Mode. A full charge will give you an estimated drive range of 230 miles on the base trim.
Technology
Kia doesn’t skimp on technology in the 2024 EV9. There’s an 8-speaker audio system, and the infotainment system features a large 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation, map updates, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. A digital key lets you lock, unlock, and even drive your car. It can be shared with others by text message. You can also use the Kia Access app to pre-cool or pre-heat your car and more.
The front row has one USB-C Data Port and two USB-C fast-charging ports. Two fast-charging USB-C charging ports are also in each of the second and third rows. There is also a wireless phone charger, plus a 110V power inverter in the second row and a 110V power inverter outlet located in the rear cargo area.
